The Centenary Walk Route

The team will walk, non-stop, along the footpaths and canals of Warwickshire. In 40 hours they will cover 100 miles using:

• the Heart of England Way,
• the Warwickshire Centenary Way (twice),
• and the Coventry Way.

In the middle of the route they will take to the towpath on the

• Grand Union Canal,
• and the North Oxford Canal.

The walkers will complete there walk in the urban area of Warwick and Royal Leamington Spa.

The Route in Full

Heart of England Way

They start at Alcester, and then join the Heart of England Way to reach:

• Bidford,
• Dorsington,
• Long Marston and
• Lower Quinton.

Centenary Way

At about 5:00am on Friday morning they leave Lower Quinton and join the Centenary Way to reach:

• Ilmington,
• Blackwell,
• Treddington,
• Honington,
• Idlicote,
• Whatcote,
• Tysoe,
• Edgehill (around noon),
• Avon Dassett and Northend.

At Northend the intrepid walkers head north for:

• Ladbroke and
• Southam

Towards the end of Friday afternoon the team will make collections in Southam High Street. They head for Bascote and the Grand Union Canal.

Grand Union Canal

The walkers join the Grand Union at Bascote and then proceed to:

• Long Itchington,
• Stockton,
• Napton and
• Braunston.

North Oxford Canal

At Braunston Junction the Oxford Canal leaves the Grand Union to head for Rugby. Shortly after 9:00pm on Friday the team will start on the North Oxford, first reaching Hillmorton.

At midnight, with twenty-four hours of walking behind them, they press on for:

• Rugby,
• Newbold on Avon and
• Brinklow.

Coventry Way

It will be about 4:00am when, at Brinklow, the travellers leave the canal and take to the Coventry Way to reach:

• Wolston and then
• to Ryton on Dunsmore.

Rejoining the Centenary Way

Now nearing the end of their journey the team head for:

• Bubbenhall,
• Stoneleigh and
• Kenilworth.

As a busy shopping morning starts in Kenilworth the walkers take another opportunity to collect extra money. The walkers make for:

• Leek Wootton,
• Warwick,
• and finally Leamington Spa.

The Final Act

In the urban area they plan to visit:

• Market Square Warwick at about noon on Saturday,
• St Nicholas Park,
• Sainsbury's (Tachbrook) and
• Victoria Park.

The grand finale comes when the team are joined by 100 Rotarians to march down the Parade and finish at the Pump Rooms.
